This three-day course was initially developed for the U.S. Customs Air Interdiction Division, now Homeland Security's Customs and Border Protection, as a recurrent review of survival basics. It was designed to be a refresher course for pilots and aircrews that had already gone through the Basic Course, but because of operational assignments over specific types of environments, they required a focus on topics such as winter and cold water immersion, desert, jungle/tropical, mountain, sea survival, survival medicine, and specialized survival equipment.
