ERI's Michael Rose (United Kingdom)
Michael is now serving with Devon & Cornwall police where he has been for 24 years. Mike has been a POLSA for nearly 10 years and has been involved in police searching for about 22 years. He is a police search manager and has been involved in many high profile searches within the Force area. His current role is as the Force Police Search Adviser & Coordinator and has been heavily engaged in search training in force and with partners in a variety of aspects of search. He is a member of his Force contingency planning unit and involved in reviewing and writing policies in several areas of police work, mostly related to search, security matters and disaster victim recovery and identification. He is trained in management of disaster and civil emergencies and was search coordinator following the Boscastle disaster in Cornwall in 2004. He is Chairman of South West England Rescue Association (SWERA), for the 4th year and works closely with SAR groups in the Southwest. He has worked with a small group of dedicated volunteers to help bring about the formation of a new SAR group called Cornwall Search and Rescue Team (CSART) which has proved extremely effective since its formation 4 yrs ago. In January 2005, he was the 1st officer from this Force to be deployed to Thailand to assist in the recovery and identification of the deceased following the Tsunami disaster and has worked in other areas of the UK such as Gleneagles for the G8 summit in 2005.
