ERI’s staff of qualified and talented professionals represent a full spectrum of operational skills and experience in SAR Management, Global Survival and Emergency Preparedness. We place the highest premium on safety. All ERI instructors have extensive experience conducting "high risk" training. Skip, Mareen, Shannon and Brett Stoffel


Mareen Stoffel
Mareen has been actively involved in the company since ERI's inception. In addition to proof reading manuscripts and brainstorming business decisions, Mareen is ERI's Corporate Secretary, office manager and takes care of a variety of day to day functions for ERI. More information...

Shannon
Shannon, ERI's CFO, is a graduate of Minot State University and holds a BS degree in Corporate Finance. In addition to her management experience, Shannon brings a vast amount of real world accounting experience to ERI. ...



Rich Lahn
Rich spent 26 years as a USAF Survival Instructor, also known as a (SERE) Survival Escape Resistance Evasion specialist. He directed the development of the Air Force's ditching and water egress procedures used by Air Force helicopter crews. Tim Kneeland
In addition to working with ERI, Tim teaches FAR 135.331 Crewmember Emergency Training to commerical pilots and flight attendants fro Corporate Air Parts, Van Nuys, CA. He started as a USAF Survival Instructor from 1965 to 1969. After leaving the Air Force, he founded the Institute for Survival Education to create and produce survival and outdoor programs. Michael Rose - UK Division
Michael is now serving with Devon & Cornwall police where he has been for 24 years. Mike has been a POLSA for nearly 10 years and has been involved in police searching for about 22 years. He is a police search manager and has been involved in many high profile searches within the Force area. More information...


Robert "Skip" Stoffel
Skip is the president and founder of Emergency Response International. In addition to his role as ERI's executive editor, Skip instructs courses in nine countries and spearheads the company's train-the-trainer programs offered throughout the world.  More Information...


Brett Stoffel
Brett joined ERI as an owner, manager and instructor in 2008. He serves as vice-president and general counsel of ERI. In addition to Brett's enviable outdoor experience, he spent 10 years flying B-52s and B-2s for the USAF and has since passed the Washington State Bar.

Ralph Wilfong
Director of Opertions

Ralph is the former State Search and Rescue Coordinator for Virginia. In addition to SAR, he has comprehensive experience in emergency management, survival, emergency medical services, and law enforcement training and response. He has responded to major disasters in the U. S. and in other countries. More information...


Peter Kummerfeldt
Peter spent 30 years as a Survival Escape Resistance Evasion (SERE) specialist in the U.S.A.F.  He has taught, supervised and/or directed most of the Air Force's global survival programs and is now a much sought after speaker on outdoor safety and survival. Between ERI and his business, OutdoorSafe, Peter is on the road most of the year teaching thousands to be better prepared and capable of surviving any type of unexpected emergency.  More Information...


Paul Green, PhD
Paul is a former Air Force survival instructor that holds a Doctorate in outdoor leadership and teaches high-risk outdoor skill courses at the University level.  He is an accomplished climber, search management coordinator and curriculum development specialist. More Information...


Clive Swombow - UK Division
Formerly a Chief Inspector with the North Wales Police, Clive is a search management specialist with extensive operational experience with 22 Squadron, British RAF helicopter unit.  He is a member of Mountain Rescue and has instructed with ERI in 5 countries. More Information...
